• Homeworld Tools •
Here are a few useful tools for Homeworld editing. If I've neglected to add any tools, Tell Me! Oh yeah, and I didn't make any of these tools, so don't blame me if they don't work the way you want them to. Also, most of these tools are hosted on Delphy's Mad Scientist Laboratory until I upload them to Tripod.
BigViewer 3.0
- Allows for viewing and extracting of Homeworld/HWC .Big files.
Visual Mex Editor
- Mex editor with built in viewport for easy Mexing.
Mad Editor
- Makes custom animations for your Homeworld Ships.
AIFR Header
- Convertor for AIFR headers.
BNK Extractor
- Homeworld Sound Bank extractor, lets you listen to all the sound effects in the game.
AIFR.ini
- Configuration file for BNK Extractor.
LUT Decode
- Sound Lookup Table editing - allows you to change the in-game sounds to any others in game. Requires List.zip file found below.

- List of all in-game sounds (.CSV format)
Relic Sound Tools
- Incorporates VCE extractor and AIFR header changer. (Homeworld & HW:C)
HW-HWC Convertor
- Homeworld -> Homeworld:Cataclysm MEX and PEO convertor. (Currently works OK for MEX but PEOs have problems with textures when converting)
PEO Editor
- PEO object names editor.
PEOmat
- It lets you double side a material, as well as setting any of the other flags like Self Illuminence, without having to hex edit any files.
Note I said material *not* poly - to get a poly to be double sided you have to assign it to a material/texture that will be double sided. This is just another material entry in the PEO file.
Homesong
- Extracts HW_Music.wxd (music) files. To extract HW:C music, rename the Music4Cat.wxd file to HW_Music.wxd and run the extractor.
AIFR Plugin
- Allows AIFR (sound and music files) to be played in Winamp.
